Federal Election 2015: Sturgeon River-Parkland riding results

Summary: This is a new riding, which separates the Edmonton suburbs of Spruce Grove and Stony Plain, grouping them with more rural areas. Conservative MP and Health Minister Rona Ambrose is re-offering here, seeking a fifth term in office. The Liberal party dropped Chris Austin as its candidate here on September 16, saying some of his past comments were irreconcilable with the values of the party.

Boundaries: Lying to the west of Edmonton, along with Spruce Grove and Stony Plain, this riding also  includes Morinville, Redwater, and Onoway.

Last Election: In 2011, voters within the boundaries of this new riding voted 77 per cent Conservative, followed by 13 per cent NDP.

History: The new riding combines parts of three former ridings, Edmonton-Spruce Grove, Yellowhead, and Westlock-St. Paul. All three have voted consistently on the right of the political spectrum.
