Montreal Highland Games in full swing in Verdun

WATCH ABOVE: If you were near the waterfront in Verdun Sunday and you heard the pipes calling you, you were near the Montreal Highland Games. Billy Shields reports.

VERDUN — Hundreds of bagpipers and countless more dancers, reenactors and Highland athletes descended on Arthur Therrien Park for the 38th annual Montreal Highland Games.

“This is a great way to celebrate heritage,” laughed Colleen O’Brien.

The games have occupied several different areas over the years, like Pointe-Claire and Pierrefonds and the Douglas Hospital site.

“We’re glad to have it back in Verdun,” said City Councillor Sterling Downey. “As you can see, all kinds of people came out today.”
