Temperatures are forecast to stay around 30 C until at least Monday; however, it’s the humidity that is of real concern.
The humidex rating is hovering around 39-40, which is extremely high. Environment Canada forecasts Thursday to be the most humid day of the next stretch.
The advisory warns older adults, infants and young children, people with chronic illnesses and those who work or exercise outside are at the highest risk for adverse effects of the heat.
People are encouraged to drink lots of water, wear loose-fitting clothing, limit alcohol consumption and avoid going outside during the hottest time of the day.
