CALGARY – Ellen Scharf always has a lot of hounds on her hands when she hits the dog park – and two of her canine companions stand out from the pack.
R2, originally named R2D2, was just a tiny puppy when he had to have one of his legs amputated after being attacked by another dog.
The other dog at R2’s house, Josie, recently lost an eye to glaucoma.
Scharf says neither dog has trouble keeping up with the other regulars in her dog walking group.
“Their ability to adapt and fit in is absolutely amazing.”
“Their owners don’t coddle them, don’t baby them,” she said. “They have to go out for walks every day just like every other dog. Both of them are pretty lucky that they got adopted into the family they did.”
