WINNIPEG – Neighbours in Charleswood are feeling more at ease after a Winnipeg man described as a terrorist threat by RCMP is back in custody.

Aaron Driver made headlines earlier this year by defending ISIS and approving terrorist attacks in Canada. He was re-arrested on Friday after the woman who put up money to help bail him out withdrew her support.

Global News tried to find out why she was no longer willing to have Driver stay at her house as a condition of his bail, but got no response.

“Keep him in jail where he belongs,” said Roland McPhee who lives a block away from where Driver was staying at 70 Carlotta Crescent. “It’s a quiet neighbourhood… we don’t need that around here.”

Winnipeggers living nearby were relieved to hear he is in custody again after being released on a peace bond earlier this month, with conditions including wearing a GPS monitoring device and no internet.

“It definitely makes me think twice about letting my kids go by themselves or even us as a family in case this guy decides he wants to get radical and pull a crazy stunt here,” said Cory Werenich who lives in the area.

Driver could be in jail for the weekend unless another person agrees to give him a place to live. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
