CALGARY – Police have charged a man after searching two vehicles and a house that’s been under surveillance in Calgary’s Rundle neighbourhood.
Calgarian Ismail Charanek, 21, is in custody and charged with three counts of breaching a court order, one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of proceeds of crime and an unrelated outstanding warrant. Another occupant of the house was arrested but later released.
The home, in the 700 block of Rundleside Drive N.E. was targeted in a June 1 shooting that damaged the front door and front window. Three shots were also fired at the home on Jan. 1; two bullets entered the home and one hit the garage. Neither shooting resulted in injuries.
Police searched the home on Tuesday as part of a drug investigation, and found an airsoft gun, over $9,000 worth of drugs (mostly fentanyl pills) and $4,970 in cash.
Charanek’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 29.
