CALGARY – Grade 3 students at Olympic Heights Elementary School were “walking blind” on Tuesday, as part of an effort to raise money for Alberta Guide Dog Services.
Using everything from bandanas to toques, the kids covered their eyes to get a sense of the challenges facing blind people.
They were joined by service dog-in-training, Button, and her volunteer trainer.
The students presented them with a donation cheque for $2,345.50, money they’d raised by selling crafts and setting up lemonade stands.
The money will go toward providing dogs like Button for blind people in the Calgary area.
