EDMONTON – While Edmontonians enjoy sunshine and above seasonal temperatures over the next several days, the City is asking homeowners to stop at their mailbox to grab their property tax notices.
An average single-family home, assessed at $401,000, will pay $3,108 in property taxes. $2,223 of tax dollars will go towards municipal programs and services and $885 will go to the provincial government to fund education.

“For the city’s portion of $2,200, you receive a multitude of services, including police and fire protection, snow removal, road maintenance, libraries, recreational facilities, parks, trails, playgrounds, and other services,” said Rod Risling, Assessment and Taxation Branch Manager.
The City is expecting to collect $1.7 billion in property taxes this year, with $1.3 billion in municipal taxes and $429 million in provincial education taxes.

The remainder of the operating budget is funded through multiple sources, including grants, fines, user fees, permits and investment returns.
The City is sending out more than 350,000 notices. Payment is due June 30th. Anyone who doesn’t receive their assessment by June 5th should contact the City of Edmonton.
