MONTREAL — “Is there any reward for kindness other than kindness itself?”
A community group in Montreal took these words from the Qur’an to heart with a surprise visit to the Montreal General Hospital.
Members of the not-for-profit organization Toheed Montreal distributed 500 roses to nurses at the hospital on Thursday afternoon.
“For the past two years, some of our members have been hospitalized, and we thought this was a way to thank the members of the hospital for the care,” said Nasr Taba.
Toheed Montreal was founded by a group of active Iranian students from different universities in Montreal who wanted to help serve the needs of the growing Iranian population in the city.

Taba said the organization sent out an email to its members, who responded generously with donations.
“Through our culture, we are obligated to respond to kindness, and this is our way to do it,” Taba told Global News.
Ten volunteers visited 10 floors of the hospital. They were also giving out roses to elderly patients on the 13th floor.
