REGINA – A Saskatchewan MLA choked back tears in the legislature during his tribute to three teenage boys killed in a recent highway accident. Fred Bradshaw told MLAs before the start of Wednesday’s question period that the deaths last Sunday have shaken the tight-knit community and the local high school.
Bradshaw, who represents the town of Carrot River, said the tragedy has touched many lives, and he asked all members of the legislature to keep the boys’ families in their thoughts, minds and prayers.

The boys, who were 14, 15 and 17, were all from Carrot River and were members of the school’s football team. They were returning from a football camp in Saskatoon when their car was hit by a semi in a construction zone on Highway 6.
The vehicle was pushed into a pickup truck which in turn struck a flag person, who suffered critical injuries.

Bradshaw, his voice breaking at times, told the assembly that those touched by the tragedy will recover from it, but the teens will never be forgotten.
“This fall, when the Wildcats take to the field, I’m sure (the teens) will be watching and chanting ‘go ‘Cats go.’ I just wish they were on the field,” he said.
