REGINA – Alcohol sales in Saskatchewan are going up according to data released by Statistics Canada.
Saskatchewan had the second biggest increase in sales of alcoholic drinks per capital across the country at 3.3 per cent, bringing the total sales to just over $614 million between 2013-2014.
Alberta’s alcohol sales increase led the country at 4.4 per cent, totalling $2.4 billion in sales for the province during the same time frame.
The biggest increase in alcohol sales in Saskatchewan was for ciders, coolers, and other refreshments which rose 22.5 per cent.
Wine sales also went up 6.4 per cent in Saskatchewan, spirit sales rose 1.7 per cent, and beer sales were also up 1.4 per cent.
The only two provinces that saw a decrease in alcohol sales for 2013-2014 were B.C. and New Brunswick.
