West-end Toronto YMCA reopens after evacuation due to carbon monoxide leak

TORONTO – People are being allowed back in to a west-end Toronto YMCA after an evacuation due to a carbon monoxide leak this morning.

Emergency crews have fixed the leak and deemed the building at College Street and Dovercourt Road to be safe.

Police were called to the building, which houses a fitness centre, around 8:30 a.m.

About 30 people were forced to take shelter in city buses while officers performed tests inside.

The investigation closed off part of College Street but the area has since reopened to traffic.

No injuries have been reported.
