The final trailer for the highly-anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron was released Wednesday, showcasing all the familiar faces from Marvel’s superhero team — as well as someone new.

For the first time, fans were treated to a glimpse of The Vision, played by actor Paul Bettany.

First introduced in Marvel Comics in 1968, The Vision is an artificial life form created by Avengers baddie Ultron with the power to alter his molecular density – phasing through objects or becoming as hard as diamond.

Bettany is no stranger to the Marvel universe, having previously voiced Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. computer system in all three Iron Man films as well as the first Avengers.

This has led to fan speculation that his previous role as an A.I. program, combined with The Vision’s own computerized origin, means the two roles are linked, and possibly one and the same.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is the sequel to 2012’s smash-hit The Avengers, a super hero team-up combining characters from a number of Marvel Comics properties which became one of the highest grossing films in box office history.

There are plenty of returning faces in the cast: Robert Downey Jr’s billionaire industrialist Iron Man, Chris Evans’ star-spangled Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as the timid Dr. Bruce Banner (aka The Hulk) and Samuel L. Jackson’s eye patch-wearing Nick Fury, among many others.

Avengers: Age of Ultron arrives in theatres on May 1.
