Fire destroys Home Hardware in Neepawa, Manitoba

WINNIPEG – The Home Hardware building store was completely destroyed by fire Wednesday evening in Neepawa, Man.

The building was still smoking at 9 a.m. Thursday, Neepawa chief administrative officer Colleen Synchyshyn said.

The fire started after 6 p.m. and burned through the night, she said. While firefighters were unable to save the building, they did protect the building next to it and a hydro pole that is vital to the town’s electrical supply, Synchyshyn said.

Firefighters are still tackling hot spots, she said. There were no injuries and investigators are still on the scene.
