Victim in Auburn Bay shooting identified

CALGARY – Police have identified the victim in a shooting in Auburn Bay on Thursday and have deemed his death a homicide.

Cuong Hoang, also known as Andy Cuong Hoang, 46, of Calgary was found Thursday morning following reports of a shooting in the 0-100 block of Auburn Sound Circle S.E.

His cause of death is not being released.

On Friday morning police located a vehicle in the southeast, believed to be connected to the incident.

“We have recovered a vehicle, in relation to the investigation,” said S/Sgt. Colin Chisholm at a news conference. “It was a beige minivan.”

Police believe the attack was targeted, but have no suspects and haven’t identified a motive.

Police say the victim’s family is cooperating with their investigation.

“We’ve spoken to a number of individuals, but we’re looking for anybody else who has information to come forward.”

This is the city’s third homicide in 2015.
