NEAR ZEALAND, N.B. – A 110-tonne transformer headed to Mactaquac Dam started its journey Saturday, causing traffic delays and capturing plenty of attention.
A large convoy surrounded the transformer as it was moved down Route 104, near Zealand. It rolled along at about six kilometres per hour with dozens of safety and NB Power officials on either side.
It will stay in Zealand and carry onto Mactaquac Tuesday. Motorists are advised that Route 616 will be closed for a part of Tuesday while the transformer is moved.
