WATCH: Draisaitl makes Kelowna Rockets debut

KELOWNA – All eyes in the hockey world were on the Kelowna Rockets Tuesday, as (after weeks of speculation) the club officially announced the acquisition of Leon Draisaitl. The 6’1”, 210 pound centreman, who was sent down from the Edmonton Oilers Sunday, is donning a Rockets uniform for the first time. He hits the ice for his Kelowna debut in Wednesday’s tilt against the Vancouver Giants.

Draisaitl had his first practice with the club Tuesday. “You could tell we had 20 players on the ice in awe of him,” says Rockets head coach, Dan Lambert. “Leon is a pretty special player. For us to add a player of that magnitude this time of year, it’s pretty nice.”

The Rockets are still without captain Madison Bowey and newly acquired blueliner Josh Morrissey, who are both heading to Kelowna fresh off a World Junior win for team Canada.
