VANCOUVER – A Global BC cameraman was getting prepared to shoot some more weather footage on Monday when he was almost hit by some falling tree branches.
Darrell Patton was on Lougheed Highway, searching for signs of the treacherous winter weather, when he pulled over near Hope, in the driveway of Camp Hope.
As the footage shows, Patton was putting on his hat, which was in the back of the truck, when he heard a crashing noise behind him.
That’s when the tree branches came down.
Winter has been causing havoc in many areas of B.C. today, leading to school closures and downed trees and power lines. Many of the trees are falling and breaking due to a silver thaw, which is when ice coats the trees, weakening them.
