UPDATE: resident injured after Penticton motel fire

PENTICTON, B.C. – One person was sent to hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries Tuesday night after a fire broke out in the Pass Motor Inn motel on Skaha Lake Road in Penticton. RCMP say the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined but it is not believed to be suspicious. Constable Kris Clark says the building was evacuated for the safety of everyone inside while fire crews extinguished the flames.

“The flames were isolated to several end units and the other residents were eventually allowed to return to their rooms,” says Cst. Clark. “Those who were displaced by the fire had secondary accommodations arranged.”

Cst. Clark says Penticton RCMP and the Penticton Fire Department will continue investigating to find out what caused the fire and until foul play is ruled out.
