EDMONTON – Red Deer RCMP are searching for two men who escaped arrest by ramming two police vehicles with a stolen truck.
Officers responded to a call about a stolen truck in north Red Deer around 9 a.m. on Dec. 20. They found the truck and followed it to an apartment building parking lot. As RCMP tried to arrest the two men in the truck, the driver rammed two police vehicles and sped away from the scene.
Other police vehicles followed the truck but decided not pursue it out of concern for public safety, since there were pedestrians and other vehicles in the area.
No one was injured during the incident.
Two days later, the stolen truck was found in Springbrook, which is 16 kilometres south of Red Deer.
The driver of the truck is Caucasian, about 20 to 25 years old, with blonde hair, and a tall, slim build. He was wearing a dark baseball hat and a long-sleeved white shirt.
The passenger is described as Metis or Aboriginal, about 20 to 25 years old, with short, spiky, dark brown hair, dark-rimmed glasses, and was wearing a multi-coloured shirt.
