EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the death of a woman in the Haddow neighbourhood. Police were called to a weapons complaint at a home near Haswell Court and 16 Avenue just before 7 p.m. Monday.

Later that evening, police tape cordoned off the southwest Edmonton single family home. An officer on scene said a woman in her late thirties or early forties was found dead, and it’s being treated as a homicide.

On Tuesday morning, sources confirmed the investigation is linked to multiple homicides being investigated by Edmonton police.

“I can tell you that it is a family setting in the home,” said Insp. Regan James, Edmonton Police Service. “All the members of the family are safe and in police custody, and obviously being interviewed.”

Police have not revealed how the woman died, only that a homicide investigation is underway.

James said the death is unusual for the suburban area. “From my understanding it’s a regular neighbourhood, and this is absolutely out of character for the neighbourhood and for the home as well.”

As of Monday night no arrests had been made, and police were still working on a suspect description.
