TORONTO — Chris Hemsworth has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2014.
The 31-year-old actor was unveiled as the title holder Tuesday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
“I’m most excited about the alive portion … and the sexy is a bonus, so I’m flattered,” Hemsworth said via Skype from his native Australia.
Asked if there was anyone he’d like to thank, Hemsworth replied, “My parents, I guess, for putting this together” — as he pointed to his body.
Hemsworth played the title role in 2011’s Thor and its 2013 sequel as well as in 2012’s The Avengers. He reprises the role in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year.
He also starred in 2012’s Red Dawn and last year’s Rush.
Married to actress Elsa Pataky since 2010, Hemsworth is the father of daughter India Rose and twin sons Tristan and Sasha.
Other “sexy men” featured in the special issue include Chris Pratt, Jamie Dornan, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Shelton, Bradley Cooper, Matt Bomer, Michael Strahan, Idris Elba, Eddie Redmayne, Scott Foley and Tim Tebow.
