Inmate escapes Edmonton women’s institution

EDMONTON – Edmonton Institution for Women staff had an unwanted surprise Sunday when they discovered an inmate had escaped.

According to Correctional Service Canada, Patricia May McKenzie, 40, was unaccounted for Sunday afternoon.

Police were contacted and a warrant for her arrest was issued.

McKenzie is 5’2″ and weighs 122 lbs, with a fair complexion, green eyes and red hair.

She is serving a two and a half year sentence for Trafficking a Substance, Possession of a Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking and Failing to Comply With a Probation Order.

Correctional Service Canada is investigating the incident.

There has been no information released explaining how McKenzie was able to escape.
