A potash mine will be developed between White City and Kronau if the Brazilian company, Vale, gets board approval in 2013.
The $3-billion project will produce 2.9 million tonnes of potash solution.
The project is currently in the pre-feasibility stage until the end of this year.
Vale held an information session at the White City Community Centre today from 4 to 8pm.

Project Manager Will Longworth says the company wanted to give community members a forum to address concerns and answer questions.
“It will mean a lot of construction jobs. When we are building the project, it will be up to 1500 jobs and then there will be up to 500 operators required long-term,” he said.
The proposed area is on private farm land.
The company has begun the process of trying to buy land from farmers.
Next year, it will submit its environmental impact report.
“We’d be looking for environmental assessment approval by mid-2013 and the company would be in a position to make a decision whether to proceed with the project.”
If approval is granted, construction will begin in 2013 and will last four years.
