WATCH: ‘This is Edmonton’ showcases the city’s best

EDMONTON – A local photographer has captured Edmonton in all its summertime and fall glory.

“I think we just have a beautiful river valley and great festivals, also restaurants. But I think above all, I think we just have amazing people and I wanted to show that,” said Alex Scuccato, who created the video.

He puts the spotlight on many other city gems, including a ride down the North Saskatchewan in the Edmonton Queen Riverboat and a Summer Streetcar Show atop the city’s High Level Bridge.

Aside from staples like Whyte Avenue, Churchill Square, and the Legislature grounds, the video also features another favourite: food trucks.

The 26-year-old estimates he spent more than 250 hours on the project, which he started working on late this summer. He managed to cut the roughly four-and-half hours of footage he shot down to just under five minutes.

Scuccato hopes that Edmontonians who watch his creation come away from it with a sense of pride.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“The more I travel, the more I realize that Edmonton is an amazing place to live and to work,” he said. “And I just wanted to share that with everyone.”

While winter is noticeably absent from Scuccato’s video, he isn’t ruling out an ode to the season many of us love to hate in a future video.

“Stay tuned,” he says.
