This also applies to residents who live within 300 metres of the shoreline of Okanagan Lake.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan says those property owners are serviced by the fire boat, and with the latest accreditation, they are considered to be protected just as  if there was a fire hydrant in the area.

Property owners are are advised to contact their insurance provider to confirm whether the accreditation will result in lower premiums.
