Vernon man survives being impaled during vehicle roll-over

VERNON, B.C. – A 21-year-old Vernon man managed to flee his wrecked vehicle after it rolled off Cosens Bay Road Sunday night.

The man had been impaled in his neck with a stick and was assisted by a hiker in the area who called emergency crews.

RCMP say the man’s truck rolled over a 100 meter bank in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park south of Vernon at about the 4km marker on Cosens Bay Road around 5 p.m. Sunday.

The victim remains in hospital while RCMP continue to investigate the crash.
