PEACHLAND, B.C. – UPDATE: 11:20 a.m.: Provincial fire crews, supported from the air, quickly doused a bush fire near Peachland Monday afternoon.
Fire information officer Melissa Klassen says the fire behaviour on the blaze near Pincushion Mountain was minimized to rank 1, the least aggressive fire ranking.
The fire has been completely contained and has been mapped at 0.1 hectare. The blazed came within 200 metres of homes.
Wildfire management crews are working on extinguishing hot spots Tuesday.
The fire is suspected human caused as no lightning was reported in the area Monday morning when the fire began.
At 10 a.m. Monday, air tankers dropped water and retardant while a helicopter assisted a 10 person crew on the ground.
