Edmonton police searching for video of latest homicide

EDMONTON – Edmonton police are now calling the shooting death of Alor Arop Deng, 27, a homicide.

Police were called to the area of 104 St. and 81 Ave. at about 1:30 Sunday morning after receiving reports of a shooting.

Officers found Deng suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

Police originally called it a suspicious death.

Police interviewed several people Sunday but are asking witnesses to come forward with information.

Investigators believe there may be people who captured the shooting on their mobile devices.

“We have information that several people used their mobile phones to videotape what happened at the scene that morning,” said Staff Sgt. Brad Goeson of Homicide Section.

“We want those individuals to do the right thing, and come forward to police with information.”

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact Edmonton police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
