EDMONTON – A barn fire on a Hutterite colony in central Alberta has left 4,000 hogs dead.
Fire crews were called to the 8,000 square foot barn near Bentley around 6:45 a.m. Monday.
Five departments battled the blaze for just over five hours. Some crews stayed at the scene well into the evening.
Bentley Fire Chief Todd Gustafson says it’s believed the fire may have been electrical, however the investigation into the cause still continues.
The blaze has resulted in approximately $5 to $6 million in damage.
