PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Evacuation orders have been issued in Prince George, B.C., as several properties along the Fraser River are at risk because of rising flood waters.
River bank homes along Farrell Street, near Paddlewheel Park were evacuated late Sunday afternoon when water levels reached 9.61 metres, more than two metres above the average for this time of year.

A reception centre has been set up at Prince George City Hall and officials are also keeping a close eye on another riverside neighbourhood about three kilometres to the south, which is also under an evacuation alert.
Meanwhile, the flood warning issued for the upper Fraser River at Prince George has now been extended to Quesnel, 120 kilometres to the south.
The River Forecast Centre says high water is expected to peak in Prince George on Monday morning but water levels at Quesnel will continue to rise through Monday, with localized flooding possible.
A flood warning also remains in effect for the Central and Southern Peace region, northeast of Prince George, as up to 80 millimetres of rain deluged the area causing floods and washing out Highway 52 between Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge.
