Liberal John Fraser won this riding in a 2013 byelection by nearly 1,300 votes over Progressive Conservative challenger Matt Young, replacing former premier Dalton McGuinty. McGuinty had held this riding since 1990, when he replaced his father who was an MPP for one term. Prior to that, the PCs held Ottawa South from 1926 to 1987.
