The most suburban of Hamilton’s three ridings, this riding comprises parts of Hamilton north of the Niagara escarpment and east of Mountain Brow Boulevard and Ottawa Street.

The riding has gone to the NDP’s Paul Miller in both elections since it was created, with Miller increasing his margin of victory from 1.6 per cent in 2007 to 25.4 per cent in 2011.

By the numbers

With a median age of 41.7, it’s one of the oldest urban ridings in Ontario. The riding is quite diverse, with 32.7 per cent of people having a mother language other than English or French, the largest number outside of the GTA or Ottawa.
