Celebration of life for murdered Spruce Grove mother held Saturday

EDMONTON – A Spruce Grove mother who was found dead in an area home last weekend was honoured by her loved ones Saturday afternoon.

Rienna Nagel, a mother of five, was found dead in her Spruce Grove home last Saturday morning. While the exact cause of her death hasn’t been released, police believe a domestic violence incident led to the death.

The woman’s 36-year-old husband, Christopher Nagel, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Hundreds of family members and friends gathered to honour and remember 36-year-old Rienna at a Spruce Grove church Saturday afternoon.

“We wish to thank all of you who have come out to honour and celebrate Rienna’s life,” said her brother Ryan Zielke. “We are amazed at the outpouring of love and care being shown by this community and around the world. It has touched our hearts.”

Zielke says Rienna’s five children are doing well and are in “safe and caring hands.”
