Man charged following stand-off in northeast Calgary

CALGARY – Police have laid charges following a lengthy stand-off in northeast Calgary over the weekend.

On Saturday, police were called to a home in the 900 block of Taradale Drive on reports on gunfire.

The man inside was taken into custody but police were not sure if anyone else was in the home; officers spent hours trying to establish contact.

The home turned out to be empty

28-year-old Mohammed Ahmed Yemiladem has been charged with assault, reckless discharge of a weapon, careless use of a weapons and being in possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Police continue to investigate and more charges could be laid.
