CAQ leader François Legault wins riding

Watch: L’Assomption called for Francois Legault

CAQ leader François Legault has won his riding of L’Assomption.

Legault easily took the riding with 44.3 per cent of the vote in early results. PQ challenger Pierre Paquette took 36.3 per cent.

Legault was first elected in L’Assomption in 2012, though he had been a MNA for the Parti Québecois from 1998 to 2009.

He co-founded Air Transat in 1986 after being the director of marketing at Quebecair.

Paquette is a former Bloc Québecois MP.
