WATCH: An out- of- control minibus turned a Walmart parking lot into a demolition derby in East Vancouver. Six people were on the minibus when it started to accelerate, ramming into parked cars, flying over a steep embankment and finally crashing through the wall of a movie props store. Darlene Heidemann reports.

A bus crashed into the side of a building in East Vancouver Monday morning, sending six people to hospital.

The incident happened around 10:40 a.m. in the parking lot of the Walmart on Skeena Street.

The bus was picking up passengers when it accelerated at a high rate of speed and struck a number of cars in the parking lot.

It then crashed through a hedge, smashing into parked cars on the road and eventually went airborne as it went over a steep embankment.

It stopped as it embedded itself into a cinderblock wall of a building called Filmgo Sales.

The driver suffered an arm injury, but everyone was transported to hospital as a precaution.

Miraculously no one else was injured or hit by the bus.

The bus was contracted out by a community group at the time, and police are now investigating whether the accident was mechanical or driver error.

The bus will be sent for mechanical testing.

Skeena was shut down northbound from Grandview Highway for a few hours.
