BLACKS HARBOUR, N.B. – New Brunswick’s Grand Manan V ferry will return to service on June 11 after it ran aground earlier this month.

The provincial government says the ferry has reached the dry dock of the Verreault shipyard at Les Mechins, Que., where it is undergoing repairs.

The ferry was damaged while docking on May 18 in Blacks Harbour.

Staff with Coastal Transport Ltd. made the necessary repairs so that the vessel could make the voyage to Quebec.

The Quebec shipyard will now repair damaged hull plates, among other parts.

The MV Grand Manan is transporting vehicles and passengers on five runs per day while the ferry is being repaired.
