A father and his two adult daughters suffered gunshot wounds during a home invasion early this morning, according to Toronto Police. The mother of the family was also home at around 3:45 a.m. when armed assailants wearing masks broke into their Bridle Path home demanding valuables. An altercation took place and investigators say multiple shots were fired. Kevin Gallagher reports.

Four members of the same family were hurt early Thursday morning during a home invasion in Toronto’s affluent Bridle Path neighbourhood.

Toronto police Insp. Kristy Smith told reporters police were called to the home on Hyde Park Circle, near Bayview and Lawrence avenues, around 3:44 a.m. Oct. 29.

Three masked men allegedly forced their way into a home through the rear door and eventually confronted the family inside, Smith said. The men were armed with handguns, and one also had a hammer.

Four people were inside: a husband, his wife and their two adult children.

Global News has learned the two adult daughters are Maggie and Cristina Zohil-Morton. Their parents are listed on business profiles as David Morton and Doriana Zohil.

The suspects eventually fled in an SUV, but police did not have descriptions to provide.

Smith said a demand for valuables was made during the invasion, but investigators are not sure if the suspects escaped with anything as the family are not currently in the home.

“We have no information at this point to suspect that this particular home was targeted by the suspects. I’m not quite sure what their motives are at this time and whether or not they were in the area looking at other houses prior,” she said.

“People should be able to feel safe in their homes. I want to assure residents that the Toronto Police Service will do everything that we can to identify, locate, and bring these suspects to criminal justice.”

An investigation is underway.
