TORONTO — Fans of Justin Bieber are getting an intimate look at the singer’s collection of tattoos thanks to photos taken following his arrest by police in Miami Beach in January.
The Canadian pop star, who turned 20 on March 1, was arrested Jan. 23 on suspicion of DUI, resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired license.
Bieber has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A trial date will be set next week.
In addition to a “sleeve” of tattoos on his left arm, Bieber has a Bible quotation on his right shoulder, an Indian chief on his left shoulder and a joker with the word “Love” on his right arm.
There is a treble clef tattooed behind his left ear.
The singer has a crown on his left collar and the Roman numerals “I IX VII V” on his right collar. (There are reports the numerals represent the year of his mother’s birth but 1975 is actually “MCMLXXV” — and she was born in 1976.)
His first ever tattoo — a small bird — appears on his hip and there are images of Jesus and praying hands on his lower left leg.
Miami Beach Police Department has also released security camera video footage showing Bieber being processed following his arrest. One clip showed him being frisked by an officer while a second showed him pacing around the police station.
A judge ruled this week that footage showing Bieber’s genitals while urinating can be released but must be censored to respect his privacy.
“He has not lost his expectation of dignity, and that’s what’s most important here,” said Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield.
