City launches street-cleaning map

CALGARY – Calgarians can now track the city’s street cleaning schedule thanks to a new online interactive map.

The map is searchable by community and indicates when street cleaning it scheduled to begin and finish in that area. It also includes links to parking bans that will be in effect during street cleaning.

The map offers progress updates and includes information on delays caused by weather or equipment issues.

“This is a great tool for citizens,” says Sean Somers, Transportation, in a press release.

“In addition to the signs residents will see in their communities, this online tool is another way for Calgarians to find out when their community will be swept.”

Somers encourages all Calgarians to check when their community is scheduled to be clean and make sure all vehicles and blue and black carts are removed from the curb. They should also encourage their neighbours to do the same.

Street sweeping removed an estimated 100,000 tonnes of material from Calgary roads.
