ST-HUBERT – A five-year-old boy has died from severe head injuries after being hit by an unmarked Sûreté du Québec car last Thursday on the South Shore.
The 29-year-old SQ officer was driving the undercover vehicle when he rammed into the family’s Kia Spectra.
The boy’s father was reportedly making a left-hand turn from Gaetan-Boucher boulevard onto Davis boulevard.

The impact of the collision was so strong it knocked the family’s car across the street and into a stop sign.
The boy, who was strapped into his car seat, had to be rescued using the Jaws of Life.
He was then rushed to the Montreal Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
The other two passengers, the boy’s 14-year-old sister and his 31-year-old father, were also brought to hospital with minor injuries.
Montreal police confirmed the boy’s death Tuesday morning.
They are still investigating the cause of the accident.
