Canadians Chris Robanske, Kevin Hill fail to reach men’s snowboard cross finals

TORONTO –  It was a tough day for Team Canada as four riders failed to reach the men’s snowboard cross final.

British Columbia’s Kevin Hill was the lone Canadian rider to reach the semi-finals on Tuesday at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park, only to crash out near the top of the run.

He finished 2nd in the small final, 8th overall.

Calgary ‘s Chris Robanske,  a medal favourite in the event, crashed out in the quarter-finals .

Pierre Vaultier of France took home the gold medal, Nikolay Olyunin of Russia won silver and Alex Deibold of the U.S. grabbed bronze.

Ontario’s Jake Holden and Robert Fagan of British Columbia failed to reach the quarter-finals.

The event was pushed back a day due to heavy fog, with officials modifying the format to cancel the seedings run and go straight to the elimination rounds.
