WEST KELOWNA — Power has been restored to more than 2,000 BC Hydro customers in West Kelowna.
They were without power for about half-an-hour Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say gusty winds knocked out power on Old Okanagan Highway.

“It appears the wind knocked a couple of the lines together, they caught fire and brought them down,” says Cst. Steve Conlon, West Kelowna RCMP.
According to BC Hydro’s website, about 2400 customers were affected by the outage — mostly in the downtown Westbank area.
The outage also forced officials to block traffic on Old Okanagan Highway until repairs were complete.
