West Vancouver’s Maelle Ricker isn’t going to let a minor injury like a broken wrist keep her out of another Olympic games.
Ricker just had surgery on the wrist after a fall during a training session at the X Games a couple of weeks ago.
She is flying to Sochi Saturday and is adamant she will be ready to go and ready to win in snowboard cross.
Ricker has pretty much won everything possible in the sport of snowboard cross. World Cup races, world championships, and of course the gold medal in her own backyard at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
At age 35, she’s still going strong, a contender every time she races.
Sochi will be Ricker’s 4th Olympic games.
The women’s snowboard cross event is on Sunday, February 16.
