TORONTO — Canadian actor Eugene Levy is making his next project — a TV comedy series called Schitt’s Creek — a veritable family affair.
Levy and his son, former MTV Canada personality Dan Levy, are starring in the series, which they are co-producing with Eugene’s brother Fred Levy.
Schitt’s Creek follows the adventures of a California billionaire who loses his fortune and has to move to a piece of land he bought as a gag gift for his son.
Cameras are scheduled to roll in Southern Ontario from early April to late June.
The production has booked space at Pinewood Toronto Studios.
The series stars Eugene Levy’s former SCTV co-star Catherine O’Hara as well as Chris Elliott.
Levy, 67, is best known for his roles in the American Pie movies as well as Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. He voices Dory’s father Charlie in the upcoming Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory.
Dan Levy, 30, appeared in the Tina Fey film Admission and the TV movie Degrassi Goes Hollywood.
Schitt’s Creek episodes will be directed by Paul Fox (Bitten, Rookie Blue) and Jerry Ciccoritti (Bomb Girls, Played).
