Toronto police have lifted a shelter in place warning after a Monday morning shooting in a residential neighbourhood that sent one person to hospital.
A shooting happened on True Davidson Drive near Bayview Avenue and Pottery Road at around 8:08 a.m.
Paramedics told Global News they took one person to hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition.
A suspect fled the area in a blue SUV, police said.
Police had issued a warning on X shortly after the shooting warning people to “please stay out of the area.”
“Police on scene are asking residents, pedestrians, and media in the area of Hampton Park Cres and True Davidson Dr to shelter in place while they search the area,” police said in their warning on X.
Just before noon, police said the warning was lifted and officers remain on scene investigating.
Global News spoke with residents in the area who say there were left feeling shocked by the daylight shooting.
“It’s frightening. Everybody’s shook up. There’s just so much happening in the city of Toronto right now,” one resident said.
“I think it’s terrible. It’s obviously a tragedy… Everyone is extremely upset,” another resident said.
There is no word on what led to the shooting or if anyone has been arrested.
