Officer assaulted during arrest at Guelph police station, investigators say

A Guelph police officer was not hurt after reportedly being assaulted following an arrest at a business on Woodlawn Road.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, investigators said officers received a report about a man harassing staff and customers.

Under court orders, police said the man was not allowed to go to the business.

The man was arrested and brought to the police station where authorities said he became irate and kicked one officer in the leg.

A 43-year-old faces additional charges and has a bail hearing set for Thursday.
