The Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC and The Cinematheque present the first Vancouver Greek Film Festival (VGFF) from June 16–19, 2022, an in-person event hosted at The Cinematheque. The inaugural edition is a celebration of film as art, and presents an eclectic offering of new and classic Greek films. VGFF aims to introduce a more contemporary experience of Greek culture, and share the contributions that Greek filmmakers have made to film history and culture. Program highlights include the theatrical premiere of Greek to Me, a comedic autobiographical documentary directed by festival co-founder Harry Killas, and the Canadian premiere of The Apaches of Athens, a 1930 silent film that was considered lost for decades until recently found and restored.
