DDRC 70th Anniversary - image

The DDRC celebrates 70 years of community inclusion and support for people with developmental disabilities. On May 21, 1952 mothers Christine Meikle and Emily Follensbee founded what would become the Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary. When their sons with developmental disabilities were rejected from attending public school, Meikle began hosting classes in her kitchen in 1953.

Join the DDRC in celebrating 70 years of support for people with developmental disabilities at the DDRC and to look forward to the future of inclusion in our city. Visit https://ddrc.ca/get-involved/

Guided by our vision that Everyone Belongs™, the DDRC supports children and adults with developmental disabilities, encouraging them to enrich their communities. The DDRC supports adults with developmental disabilities to live independently or with supportive roommates, and we provide respite services to families and children with developmental disabilities. We offer career and lifestyle-based day programs that promote goal setting and achievement, as well as inclusion for clients who access our services. The DDRC partners with local businesses, educational institutions, and organizations to create meaningful opportunities for the clients we support.
